India's Food Processing Industries growing by 16%
Indian food processing sector is on the rise. Accordig to the latest available data, the value of output for registered food processing industries was Rs. 4,46,701 crores in 2009-10, Dr. Charan Das Mahant, Minister of State for Food Processing Industries told in parliament.
The the average annual growth rate for the period from2007-08 to 2009-10 was 16.34 %.
The latest data on share of un-registered food processing industries in the GDP of food processing was 33.5% in 2009-10. As per the Annual Survey of Industries (2007-08), there were 26,221 registered food processing units in the country.
